USUI SHIKI RYOHO
This kanji is the Japanese characters Usui Shiki Ryoho.
Usui Shiki Ryoho is translated into English as Usui
System of Natural Healing. This English phrase was
used for the first 15 years after Hawayo Takata’s death
as the designation of this practice. Usui Shiki Ryoho is
used now as a way of identifying the practice of Reiki
that recognizes and honors the spiritual lineage of
Mikao Usui, Chujiro Hayashi, Hawayo Takata, and Phyllis
Lei Furumoto.
Usui Shiki Ryoho has been passed down through this
particular lineage. The Spiritual Lineage assists in
recognizing the development of the system through the
influences of the changing world, their vision, and the
guidance of Reiki.
The system taught by masters of Usui Shiki Ryoho
emphasizes the value of self-treatment as the core of
the practice, encourages the treatment of family and
friends, acknowledges this as a life-long practice
through which the depth of the gifts of healing and
growth are manifested. The beginning class (First
Degree) gives the student everything needed to grow
and develop through the mysterious connection to Reiki
using this system.
